Universities

Thanks to their educational and research facilities, Kazan, Magdeburg and Ilmenau provide an optimal knowledge-economy basis. And when it comes to the field of engineering especially, both cities can look back on a long tradition here.

Which is a unifying force – but why not see for yourself.

Kazan, the capital of the autonomous Republic of Tatarstan, is situated at a distance of about 800 km south-east of Moscow. The city with more than 1.1 million residents has a cultural heritage that is as multifaceted as it is rich in contrasts. As the so-called Istanbul on the Volga, the city combines the traditional with the modern – and that in quite a harmonious way. Today, Kazan is an industrial, scientific and cultural metropole of national importance.

Russia’s third capital city. Has it started to cast its spell on you too?

The KNTRU-KAI university, which is named after the Russian aircraft designer Andrei Nikolayevich Tupolev and is also known as the "Tupolev University", was founded in 1932. Today it is regarded as a centre of innovative technologies, teaching and research, with more than 25,000 students studying here in 6 faculties. It addition to its 57 research centres and labs, the university has a dedicated building right on campus specifically for GRIAT, with 20,000 square metres of floor space available in it.

As a GRIAT programme student, you complete your first two semester in Kazan. Then you board a plane and head to Germany for the third one.

The first calls itself the city of Otto, the second the city of Goethe and the third the city of Barbarossa. But Magdeburg, Ilmenau and Kaiserslautern are university and engineering cities especially that offer their students excellent study conditions and future prospects. Have a look yourself, and then decide which one you intend to book your flight to.

Master program

In 2016, the first GRIAT graduates were awarded their degree certificates. And most of them had already signed employment contracts before they had presented their Master theses. While the other students remained at the university and commenced their PhD studies there.

GRIAT graduates are much in demand as specialists – and that in both Russian and international companies.
